In my 25+ years of evaluating and treating children with speech and language disorders, I have always focused on building a trusting and caring relationship with the child as a precondition to any therapeutic success. No arsenal of therapeutic tools and techniques can take the place of a clinician’s innate ability to motivate a child to want to achieve the therapeutic goals. The ability to give a child the confidence and the desire to succeed is the heart and soul of my years of therapeutic achievements.
I believe in a team approach involving the child, therapist, parents, and educators. I take the time to instruct the entire team in order to achieve our goals in a timely manner. After each session, I update the parents on the progress made during treatment and advise what else needs to be done. Larger organizations tend to take an assembly line approach to therapy. Here, you start with me and we all work together through the process and into the conclusion of therapy. I am there from beginning to end.
